This almost intact pillbox is a little way off the main path in the middle of the Wood. It is surrounded by trees and covered with nettles. Note that all the openings are on the side facing away from the enemy. The soldiers had to come out to fight the enemy.

The damage to the left side was caused in a attempt to clean up the battlefield. "After the war the local farmers attempted to destroy the pillbox by filling it with explosives - they only succeeded in blowing the walls slightly off kilter but didn't get close to destroying it.
