The Douaumont Ossuary is a rather unusual looking building. It has a commemerative hall, museum and bell tower. The bones of around 150,000 soldiers are stored underneath the building. There are 46 small low windows where the randomly arranged bones can be seen from the outside.
There is a large well-kept French cemetery opposite the ossuary.
