Messines (Mesen) Belgium - Town Approaches

This panorama was taken from the road verge just outside Messines. The Round Tower of the Island of Ireland Peace Park can be seen through the barbed wire fence and in the other direction the spire of the church in the town can be identified.

This view gives some idea of the prominent position of the town and the approach taken up the slope by the Anzac troops. The ridge has views all the way to France.
